  1. Trusty to him, adverse to the ill-minded,
  2. And, in all else, the same: no signet-impress
  3. Having done harm to, in that time’s duration.
  4. I know nor pleasure, nor blameworthy converse
  5. With any other man more than — bronze-dippings!
HERALD.
  1. Such boast as this — brimful of the veracious —
  2. Is, for a high-born dame, not bad to send forth!
CHOROS.
  1. Ay, she spoke thus to thee — that hast a knowledge
  2. From clear interpreters — a speech most seemly.
  3. But speak thou, herald! Meneleos I ask of:
  4. If he, returning, back in safety also
  5. Will come with you — this land’s beloved chieftain?
HERALD.
  1. There’s no way I might say things false and pleasant
  2. For friends to reap the fruits of through a long time.
CHOROS.
  1. How then if, speaking good, things true thou chance on?
HERALD.
  1. For not well-hidden things become they, sundered.
