  1. And when to sing or chirp a tune I fancy,
  2. For slumber such song-remedy infusing,
  3. I wail then, for this House’s fortune groaning,
  4. Not, as of old, after the best ways governed.
  5. Now, lucky be deliverance from these labours,
  6. At good news — the appearing dusky fire!
  7. O hail, thou lamp of night, a day-long lightness
  8. Revealing, and of dances the ordainment!
