  1. This object of care!
  2. By us did he fall — down there!
  3. Did he die — down there! and down, no less,
  4. We will bury him there, and not beneath
  5. The wails of the household over his death:
  6. But Iphigeneia, — with kindliness, —
  7. His daughter, — as the case requires,
  8. Facing him full, at the rapid-flowing
  9. Passage of Groans shall — both hands throwing
  10. Around him — kiss that kindest of sires!
CHOROS.
  1. This blame comes in the place of blame:
  2. Hard battle it is to judge each claim.
  3. He is borne away who bears away:
  4. And the killer has all to pay.
  5. And this remains while Zeus is remaining,
  6. The doer shall suffer in time — for, such his ordaining.
