son of Fascianus, at one time praefectus urbi, was put to death by Elagabalus under the pretext that he had stirred up a mutiny among some of the soldiers quartered in the cramp under the Alban Mount, but in reality because he was rich, elevated in station, and high in intellect. He was brought to trial in the palace and there executed, no one appearing to give evidence against him except his accuser the emperor. (D. C. 79.4.)
