an artist in gold (aurufex, sic), whose name is found in a Latin inscription (Gruter, p. dcxxxix. 1), in which his full name is D. Seyulius Alexsa (sic). The last word, in this case, as in the names of Aulus and Quintus Alexa [QUINTUS], is commonly supposed to be an abbreviation of the genitive Alexandri or of Alexas ; but Raoul-Rochette thinks that it is a distinct cognomen.
