5. A follower and flatterer of Agathocles, the favourite of Ptolemy Philopator. During the sedition dition of the Alexandrians against Agathocles, Philon bad the imprdence to irritate the populace by an insulting speech, on which he was instantly attacked and put to death : and his fate was quickly followed by that of Agathocles himself.
