8. P.Petronius, was sent by Caligula to Syria, as the successor of Vitellius, with orders to erect the statue of that emperor in the temple at Jerusalem (J. AJ 18.9.2, B. J. 2.10). This Petronius is also mentioned as having been the legate of Claudius. (Senec. de Morte Claudii.)
