3. The GRAMMARIAN, was a pupil of the Alexandrine grammarian, Dionysius, who lived in the first century before Christ (Suidas, s. v. Διονύσιος). This Parthenius is mentioned by Athenaeus, who quotes a work of his, entitled Περὶ τῶν παρὰ τοῖς Ἰστορικοῖς Λέξεων ζητουμένων (Athen. 11.467c. p. 501a. xv. p. 680d. e.), and also by Eustathius (ad Il. xxiii. p. 1412, ad Od. xv. p. 567).
