1. A son of Poseidon and Periboea the daughter of Eurymedon, was the father of Alcinous and Rhexenor, and king of the Phaeacians, whom he led from Hypereia in Thrinacia to the island of Scheria, in order to escape from the Cyclopes. (Hom. Od. 6.7, &100.7.56, &100.8.564; Apollon. 4.547.)
