6. A descendant of the last, who was tetrarch of Abilene, at the time when our Saviour entered upon his ministry (Luke, 3.1). He died probably about the time when the emperor Claudius ascended the throne. In the first year of the reign of this emperor the tetrarchy of Lysanias was conferred upon Herod Agrippa. (J.
