85. MARO, so called from the monastery of St. Maro on the Orontes, near Antioch, an eminent ecclesiastic among the Maronites of Syria; and according to some authors, Maronite patriarch of Antioch. He is said to have enjoyed the favour of the emperor Heraclius.
