(Ἱπποθόων), an Attic hero, a son of Poseidon and Alope, the daughter of Cercyon. He had a heroum at Athens; and one of the Attic phylae was called after him Hippothoontis. (Demosth. Epitaph. p. 1389; Paus. 1.5.2, 39.3, 38.4.)
