(Βοιωτός), a son of Poseidon or Itonus and Arne (Antiope or Melanippe), and brother of Aeolus. [AEOLUS, No. 3.] He was the ancestral hero of the Boeotians, who derived their name from him. (Paus. 9.1.1.)
