       209</date>, being the first plebeian who had held that office. He was praetor in <date when-custom="-208">B. C. 208</date> with Sicily as his province, and was one of the ambassadors
      sent to Philip, king of Macedonia, in <date when-custom="-203">B. C. 203</date>. He died in <date when-custom="-174">B. C. 174</date> of the pestilence which visited Rome in that year.
