      He is afterwards mentioned as the legatus of the Italica legion in the civil wars in <date when-custom="69">A. D. 69</date>, and is probably the same as the C. Manlius Valens, who was consul
      with C. Antistius Vetus in the last year of Domitian's reign, and who died in the same year in
