       <foreign xml:lang="grc">ΘΕΟΞΟΤΟΣ ΜΕΠΟΕΣΕ</foreign>, that is, <foreign xml:lang="grc">Θεόξοτός με ἐποίησε</foreign>, according to the interpretation of De
      Witte (<hi rend="ital">Cab. Durand.</hi> No. 884), and Raoul-Rochette (<hi rend="ital">Lettre
       à M. Schorn,</hi> p. 60, 2d ed.); but Panofka prefers to read the name <foreign xml:lang="grc">Θεοσότος</foreign>, or its equivalent <foreign xml:lang="grc">Θεόσδοτος</foreign>, comparing the form with the kindred name <foreign xml:lang="grc">Θεοσδοτιδης</foreign>, which occurs in Plato and Demosthenes.
