      σχολάριος</foreign>; a monk of the Byzantine empire, whose date is not known, except that he
      lived about or after the close of the eighth century. He composed a work entitled <title xml:lang="grc">Κανόνες</title>, <hi rend="ital">Syntagma Canonum,</hi> extant in MS. at
      Vienna, containing the Canons ascribed to the Apostles and to the seven general councils.
