      when he left Rome in <date when-custom="-58">B. C. 58</date>. Here he received intelligence of his
      banishment, and forthwith set out for Brundisium, where he expected to meet Sicca, but was
      disappointed, as Sicca had left Brundisium before he arrived there. (<bibl n="Cic. Att. 3.2">Cic. Att. 3.2</bibl>, <bibl n="Cic. Att. 3.4">4</bibl>, <hi rend="ital">ad Fam.</hi>
      14.4.6). Plutarch (<hi rend="ital">Cic. 32</hi>) appears to refer to the same person, but
      calls him <foreign xml:lang="grc">Οὐίριος Σικελὸς ἀνήρ</foreign>, "Vibius, a
      Sicilian," as if he had mistaken the name <hi rend="ital">Sicca ;</hi> but he relates that
      this Vibius refused Cicero hospitality at Vibo. Sicca is next mentioned at the breaking out of
      the civil war in <date when-custom="-49">B. C. 49</date>, when L. Domitius sent him with a letter
      and orders to Pompey. In <date when-custom="-44">B. C. 44</date> Cicero again took refuge in Sicca's
