      temple in the Attic port of Phaleron, and in the island of Salamis (<bibl n="Paus. 1.1.4">Paus. 1.1.4</bibl>; <bibl n="Hdt. 8.94">Hdt. 8.94</bibl>). In the month of Scirophorion a
      festival was celebrated at Athens in honour of her, which was called <foreign xml:lang="grc">σκιραφόρια</foreign> (Harpocr. <hi rend="ital">s. v.</hi>
      <foreign xml:lang="grc">Σκίρον</foreign>). The foundation of the temple at Phaleron is
      ascribed by Pausanias to a soothsayer, Scirus of Dodona, who is said to have come to Attica at
      the time when the Eleusinians were at war with king Erechtheus. (<bibl n="Paus. 1.36.3">Paus.
