      Serapio [No. 24], in <date when-custom="-149">B. C. 149</date>, to demand from the Carthaginians the
      surrender of their arms (Appian, <hi rend="ital">Pun. 80</hi>). He was praetor, <date when-custom="-139">B. C. 139</date>, when he published an edict that all Chaldaeans (i. e.
      astrologers) should leave Rome and Italy within ten days (<bibl n="V. Max. 1.3.2">V. Max.
       1.3.2</bibl>). Valerius Maximus (<hi rend="ital">l.c.</hi>) calls him Caius; whence Pighius
      makes him the brother of the Hispallus mentioned by Appian, but it is far more probable that
      there should be a mistake in Valerius Maximus of <hi rend="ital">C.</hi> for <hi rend="ital">Cn.</hi> than that he should have borne a praenomen which does not occur elsewhere in the
