        <surname full="yes">Mu'cius</surname></persName></label></head><p>2. <persName xml:lang="la"><forename full="yes">Q.</forename><surname full="yes">Mucius</surname><addName full="yes">Scaevola</addName></persName>, the son of Publius, was praetor in <date when-custom="-215">B. C. 215</date>, in the consulship of C. Postumius Albinus III. and T. Sempronius Gracchus:
      he had Sardinia for his province (<bibl n="Liv. 23.24">Liv. 23.24</bibl>, <bibl n="Liv. 23.30">30</bibl>), where he fell sick (100.34, 40). His command in Sardinia was prolonged for the
      two following years (<bibl n="Liv. 24.9">Liv. 24.9</bibl>, <bibl n="Liv. 24.44">44</bibl>),
      and again for another year (<bibl n="Liv. 25.3">Liv. 25.3</bibl>): nothing is recorded of his
      operations. This appears to be the Mucius who is mentioned by Pomponius (<bibl n="Dig. 1">Dig.
       1</bibl>. tit. 2. s. 2.37), if Mucius is the right reading there (comp. <bibl n="Liv. 21.18">Liv. 21.18</bibl>; Gellius, <bibl n="Gel. 10.27">10.27</bibl>; Florus, <bibl n="Flor. 2.6">2.6</bibl>). Quintus was decemvir sacrorum, and died in <date when-custom="-209">B. C. 209</date>.
