      Eustath. <hi rend="ital">ad hom.</hi> p. 101 i. He was one of the Lapithae, and married to
      Hippodameia, by whom he became the father of Polypoetes (<bibl n="Hom. Il. 2.740">Hom. Il.
       2.740</bibl>, &amp;100.12.129). When Peirithous was celebrating his marriage with
      Hippodameia, the intoxicated centaur Eurytion or Eurytus carried her off, and this act
      occasioned the celebrated light between the centaurs and Lapithae (Hom. <hi rend="ital">Od.</hi> xi, 630, 21.296, <bibl n="Hom. Il. 1.263">Il. 1.263</bibl>, &amp;c.; <bibl n="Ov. Met. 12.224">Ov. Met. 12.224</bibl>). He was worshipped at Athens, along with Theseus,
