      Lvcaon who emigrated with a colony from Arcadia to Italy, and called the district in which he
      settled, after himself, Oenotria (<bibl n="Paus. 8.3.2">Paus. 8.3.2</bibl>; <bibl n="Verg. A. 1.532">Verg. A. 1.532</bibl>, <bibl n="Verg. A. 3.165">3.165</bibl>, <bibl n="Verg. A. 7.85">7.85</bibl>; <bibl n="Strabo vi.p.253">Strab. vi. p.253</bibl>, &amp;c.).
      According to Varro, he was a king of the Sabines, and not a Pelasgian, and his brother was
      called Italus (<bibl n="Serv. ad Aen. 1.536">Serv. ad Aen. 1.536</bibl>). According to
      Dionysius (<bibl n="Dionys. A. R. 1.1">1.1</bibl>l, &amp;100.2.1), Oenotrus was accompanied by
