      praetor L. Opimius, <date when-custom="-125">B. C. 125</date>, when it rose in revolt to obtain the
      Roman franchise. The town was taken and destroyed by Opimius (Cic. <hi rend="ital">de
       Invent.</hi> 2.34; comp. Cic. <hi rend="ital">de Leg. Agr.</hi> 2.33; <bibl n="Liv. Epit. 60">Liv. Epit. 60</bibl>; <bibl n="Vell. 2.6">Vell. 2.6</bibl>). The daughter of this Numitorius
