      plants, one of the followers of Asclepiades of Bithynia (Dioscor. <hi rend="ital">De Mat.
       Med.</hi> i. praef. vol. i. p. 2; St. Epiphan. <hi rend="ital">Adv. Haeres.</hi> 1.1. 3, p.
      3, ed. Colon. 1682), who is quoted by Asclepiades Pharmacion (ap. Gal. <hi rend="ital">De
       Compos. Medicam. see. Loc.</hi> 3.1, vol. xii. p. 634), and must, therefore, have lived in
      the latter half of the first century, B. C. His medical formulae are several times quoted by
      Galen (<hi rend="ital">De Compos. Medicam. sec. Loc.</hi> vol. xiii. pp. 87, 96, 98, 110,
      &amp;c., <hi rend="ital">De Antid.</hi> 2.15, vol. xiv. p. 197), and once by Pliny (<bibl n="Plin. Nat. 32.31">Plin. Nat. 32.31</bibl>). Caelius Aurelianus mentions that he wrote a
