        <surname full="yes">Cocceius</surname></persName></label></head><p>3. <persName xml:lang="la"><forename full="yes">M.</forename><surname full="yes">Cocceius</surname><addName full="yes">Nerva</addName></persName>, was the son of the jurist. He must have been a
      precocious youth, if we rightly understand Ulpian (<bibl n="Dig. 3">Dig. 3</bibl>. tit. i. s.
      l), when he says that he gave response (<hi rend="ital">publice de jure responsitasse</hi>) at
      the age of seventeen or a little more. He is probably the Cocceius Nerva mentioned by Tacitus
       (<bibl n="Tac. Ann. 15.72">Tac. Ann. 15.72</bibl>) as Praetor Designatus. He wrote a work De
      Usucapionibus (<bibl n="Dig. 41">Dig. 41</bibl>. tit. 2. s. 47) as Papinian states; and he is
      often cited in the Digest under the name of Nerva Filius. Gaius (<hi rend="ital">Instil.</hi>
