With the epithet <hi rend="smallcaps">TERTIA</hi>, was the daughter of Q. Mucius
      Scaevola, the augur, consul in <date when-custom="-95">B. C. 95</date>. She was a cousin (<hi rend="ital">soror</hi>) of Q. Metellus Celer, consul in <date when-custom="-60">B. C. 60</date>,
      and of Q. Metellus Nepos, consul III <date when-custom="-57">B. C. 57</date>. Mucia married Cn.
      Pompey, by whom sne had two sons, Cneius and Sextus, and a daughter, Pompeia. She was divorced
      by Pompey just before his return from the Mithridatic war in <date when-custom="-62">B. C.
      62</date>. Mucia next married M. Aemilius Scaurns, a stepson of the dictator Sulla. In <date when-custom="-39">B. C. 39</date>, Mucia, at the earnest request of the Roman people, went to
      Sicily to mediate between her son Sex. Pompey and Augustus. She was living at the time of the
      battle of Actium, <date when-custom="-31">B. C. 31</date>. Augustus treated her with great respect.
