A comic poet of the Middle Comedy, according to Suidas (<hi rend="ital">s. v.</hi>) and
      Athenaeus (vii. p. 329d.). This is also confirmed by the titles of his pieces. Eudocia (p.
      303) calls him a poet of the New Comedy. Nothing further is known respecting him. The
      following plays of his are mentioned:--1. <foreign xml:lang="grc">Βούσιρις</foreign>
       (<bibl n="Ath. 10.417">Athen. 10.417</bibl>e.; Suid.). 2. <foreign xml:lang="grc">Δύσκολος</foreign> (<bibl n="Ath. 8.359">Athen. 8.359</bibl>c.). 3. <foreign xml:lang="grc">Ἱπποτρόφος</foreign> (Suidas and <bibl n="Ath. 7.301">Athen.
      7.301</bibl>,d. 322, e. and ix. p. 402f. where a passage of considerable length is quoted). 4.
       <foreign xml:lang="grc">Φίλιππος</foreign>. 5. <foreign xml:lang="grc">Ἀλκμαίων</foreign> (<bibl n="D. L. 8.37">D. L. 8.37</bibl>). The Alcmaeon referred to in
      this play is supposed by Meineke to have been the Pythagorean philosopher of that name [<hi rend="smallcaps">ALCMAEON</hi>], from the tenor of the lines quoted by Diogenes Laertius. 6.
