The priest or keeper (<foreign xml:lang="grc">νεώκορος</foreign>) of the temple of

      appears from Strabo (<bibl n="Strabo xiv.p.641">xiv. p.641</bibl>) that the Megabyzi, or, as
      he calls them, the Megalobyzi, were eunuch priests in the temple of Artemis. Another of these
      priests is mentioned by Appian (<bibl n="App. BC 5.1.9">App. BC 5.9</bibl>) as having incurred
