      58</date>, brought forward a law granting to the freedmen (<hi rend="ital">libertini</hi>) the
      right of voting in all the tribes; but he was prevented from passing it by Domitius
      Ahenobarbus, who was then praetor (Ascon. <hi rend="ital">in Cic. Mil.</hi> p. 46). Baiter, in
      his note on Asconius (<hi rend="ital">l.c.</hi>), has shown that this Cn. Manlius is a
      different person from C. Manilius, who was tribune in <date when-custom="-66">B. C. 66</date>. and
