Fam. 6.19">Cic. Fam. 6.19</bibl>), and probably the same
      person with Pompeius Macula mentioned by Macrobius in connection with a pun founded on his
      cognomen. Fausta, daughter of Sulla, the dictator [<hi rend="smallcaps">FAUSTA</hi>
      <hi rend="smallcaps">CORNELIA</hi>], had at the same time two lovers -- Fulvius, a fuller's
      son, and Pompeius Macula. Faustus, the lady's brother, remarked that, " he wondered his sister
      should have a stain (<hi rend="ital">macula</hi>), since she had a fuller (<hi rend="ital">fullo</hi>)" (<hi rend="ital">Sat.</hi> 2.2.) The cognomen <hi rend="ital">Macula</hi> is
