      Others suppose that he was inspector of the roads and forests (<hi rend="ital">calles</hi>).
      While he was in the neighbourhood of Brundisium a man named Curtisius attempted to excite an
      insurrection among the slaves. Lupus, with the aid of the crews of three vessels which
