      an ancient date, and probably a native of Lesbos. He is the only artist who is mentioned in
      connection with that island. His statue of one of the Muses holding a lyre of the ancient form
       (<foreign xml:lang="grc">σαμβύκη</foreign>) at Mytilene, was mentioned by Euphorion in his
       <foreign xml:lang="grc">περὶ Ἰσθμίων</foreign> (<bibl n="Ath. 4.182">Athen.
