Of <hi rend="smallcaps">ARELATE</hi> or <hi rend="smallcaps">ARLES</hi>, was bishop of
      that city about the middle of the fifth century.</p><p>Leontius presided in a council at Arles, held about <date when-custom="475">A. D. 475</date>, to
      condemn an error into which some had fallen respecting the doctrine of predestination. He
      appears to have died in <date when-custom="484">A. D. 484</date>. He is mentioned by Sidonius
