      M. Scaurus, in <date when-custom="-54">B. C. 54</date>, when accused of extortion (Ascon. <hi rend="ital">ad Cic. Scaur.</hi> 100.1): he accused Gabinius of high treason, about the same
      time, but was suspected of collusion (<hi rend="ital">ad Q. Fr. l.c., ad Att.</hi> 4.16, 9).
      In the Philippics he is mentioned as a friend of Antony's; and he was appointed by the latter
      to a province, but made no use of the appointment, in <date when-custom="-44">B. C. 44</date> (<hi rend="ital">Philipp.</hi> 3.10). He struck coins as priest of Mars (Ultor), <date when-custom="-20">B. C. 20</date>, to commemorate the recovery of the standards from the Parthians, by
      Augustus (<bibl n="D. C. 54.8">D. C. 54.8</bibl>; Vaill. <hi rend="ital">Cornel.</hi> No.
