       Scaur.</hi> sub fin.). At his dedication by the augur L. Caesar, he gave a sumptuous dinner
       (<bibl n="Macr. 2.9">Macr. 2.9</bibl>). In <date when-custom="_58">B. C. 58</date>, he stood for
       <pb n="733"/> the consulship, though Caesar tried to put him down by implicating him in an
      attempt on Pompey's life (Cic. <hi rend="ital">in Vatin.</hi> 10; comp. <hi rend="ital">ad
       Att.</hi> 2.24). In 57, he was one of the priests to whom was referred the question whether
      the site of Cicero's house was consecrated ground (<hi rend="ital">De Harusp. Resp.</hi> 6,
      comp. <hi rend="ital">pro Dom.</hi> 49, 52). He is also mentioned as one of the judges in the
      case of P. Sextius, <date when-custom="-56">B. C. 56</date> (<hi rend="ital">in Vatin. l.c., ad Q.
       Fr.</hi> 2.3, 5). He died in the same year, much praised by Cicero (<bibl n="Cic. Att. 4.6">Cic. Att. 4.6</bibl>).</p></div></div></body></text></TEI>
