      who made the bronze chariot and statue of Gelon, the son of Deinomenes, afterwards tyrant of
      Sycuse, in commemoration of his victory in the chariot race at Olympia, Ol. 73, <date when-custom="-488">B. C. 488</date>. The following bronze statues at Olympia were also by
      Glaucias:--Philon, whose victory was recorded in the following epigram by Simonides, the son
      of Leoprepes,-- <quote xml:lang="grc" rend="blockquote">Πατρὶς μὲν Κορκύρα, φίλων δʼ
       ὄνομʼ, εἰμὶ δὲ Γλαύκου</quote><lb/>
      <foreign xml:lang="grc">Υἱὸς, καὶ νίκη πὺξ δύʼ ὀλυμπιάδας</foreign>:</p><p>Glaucus of Carystus, the boxer, practising strokes (<foreign xml:lang="grc">σκιαμαχῶν</foreign>); and Theagenes of Thasos, who conquered Euthymus in boxing in Ol. 75,
       <date when-custom="-480">B. C. 480</date> (<bibl n="Paus. 6.6.2">Paus. 6.6.2</bibl>). Glaucias
      therefore flourished <date when-custom="-488">B.
