      the fall of Otho he assisted in suppressing the insurrection among the soldiers, <hi rend="smallcaps">A. D</hi> 69. Shortly after he is said to have instigated Caecina to his
      treachery against Vitellius ; and Vespasian afterwards sent him out to suppress the
      Sarmatians, in which he succeeded. The C. Rubrius Gallus, who was consul suffectus in A. D.
