      <hi rend="smallcaps">GALBA</hi>, apparently a son of No. 6, and son-in-law of P. Crassus
      Mucianus, was quaestor in <date when-custom="-120">B. C. 120</date>. During the transactions with
      Jugurtha he was accused of having been bribed by the Nunidian, and was condemned in <date when-custom="-110">B. C. 110</date> by a lex Mamilia. Cicero states that C. Sulpicius Galba enjoyed
      great favour with his contemporaries for his father's sake. His <pb n="206"/> defence against
      the charge of being bribed by Jugurtha was read by Cicero when yet a boy, and delighted him so
      much that he learned it by heart. At the time of his condemnation he belonged to the college
