      of the prisoners taken by Lycus of Pharae, the lieutenant-general of the Achaeans, in <date when-custom="-217">B. C. 217</date>, when he defeated <hi rend="smallcaps">EURIPIDES</hi> the
      Aetolian, who had been sent, at the request of the Eleans, to supersede the former commander
      Pyrrhias. (<bibl n="Plb. 5.94">Plb. 5.94</bibl>.) Pausanias (<bibl n="Paus. 6.8">6.8</bibl>)
      mentions Evanoridas as having won the boys' prize for wrestling at the Olympic and Nemean
      games, and as having drawn up a list of the Olympic victors, when he afterwards held the
      office of <foreign xml:lang="grc">Ἑλλανοδίκης</foreign>. (See <hi rend="ital">Dict. of
