      mentioned among the disciples of Aristotle. He is spoken of only by Stephanus of Byzantium
       (<hi rend="ital">s. v.</hi>
      <foreign xml:lang="grc">Μήθυμνα</foreign>), from whom we learn that he was a native of
      Methymna in Lesbos.</p><p>Several other persons of this name, concerning whom nothing is known beyond what is cont
      ined in the passages where they occur, are mentioned by Thucdides (1.111), Pausanias (<bibl n="Paus. 10.16">10.16</bibl>(. § 4), Aelian (<bibl n="Ael. VH 1.25">Ael. VH
