C.
       29</date> by Augustus. (<bibl n="D. C. 52.42">D. C. 52.42</bibl>.) It was probably this
      Cluvius who in <date when-custom="-45">B. C. 45</date> was appointed by Caesar to superintend the
      assignment of lands in Gallia Cisalpina, when Cicero wrote to hinm on behalf of the town of
      Atella. (<hi rend="ital">Ad Fam.</hi> 13.7.) This same Cluvius also is probably referred to in
      a funeral oration of the age of Augustus. (Orelli, <hi rend="ital">Inscr.</hi> No. 4859.)</p><p>The annexed coin, struck in the third dictatorship of Caesar, seems to belong to this
      Cluvius. Its obverse represents the head of Victory, with <hi rend="smallcaps">CAESAR</hi>
      <hi rend="smallcaps">DIC.</hi>
      <hi rend="smallcaps">TER.</hi>; its reverse Pallas, with C. <hi rend="smallcaps">CLOVI</hi>
