      in stone and metal, cast a bronze statue of Seleucus. king of Syria (<bibl n="Plin. Nat. 34.8.19">Plin. Nat. 34.8. s. 19</bibl>), and, together with Scopas, Timotheus,
      and Leochares, adorned the Mausoleum with bas-reliefs. (<bibl n="Plin. Nat. 36.5.4">Plin. Nat.
       36.5. s. 4</bibl>.) He must have lived accordingly <date when-custom="-372">B. C. 372</date>-<date when-custom="-312">312</date>. (Sillig. <hi rend="ital">Catal. Art. s. v.</hi>) Besides the two
      works above mentioned, Bryaxis executed five colossal statues at Rhodes (<bibl n="Plin. Nat. 34.7.18">Plin. Nat. 34.7. s. 18</bibl>), an Asclepios (<hi rend="ital">H.
       N.</hi> 34.8. s. 19), a Liber, father of Cnidus (<hi rend="ital">H. N.</hi> 36.5), and a
      statue of Pasiphae. (Tatian. <hi rend="ital">ad Graec.</hi> 54.) If we believe Clemens
      Alexandrinus (<hi rend="ital">Protr.</hi> p. 30c.), Bryaxis attained so high a degree of
