A Macedonian, son of Timander, was one of the generals of Alexander the Great, and after
      the conquest of Syria was appointed by <ref target="alexander-the-great-bio-1">Alexander</ref>
      satrap <pb n="383"/> of that country. In <date when-custom="_328">B. C. 328</date>, he led
      reinforcements from Syria to <ref target="alexander-the-great-bio-1">Alexander</ref> in
      eastern Asia, and there became involved in the conspiracy which was formed by Hermolaus
      against the life of the king. (Arrian, <bibl n="Arr. An. 4.13">Arr. Anab. 4.13</bibl>, <hi rend="ital">Ind.</hi> 18; Curtius, <bibl n="Curt. 7.10">7.10</bibl>, <bibl n="Curt. 8.6">8.6</bibl>.) He seems to be the same as the one whom Antigonus, in <date when-custom="-317">B. C.
       317</date>, made satrap of Persia (<bibl n="Diod. 19.48">Diod. 19.48</bibl>); but he must be
      distinguished from an Asclepiodorus, a general of Cassander, mentioned by Diodorus. (xix
