An Aetolian (called Archidamus by Livy), who commanded the Aetolian troops which assisted
      the Romans in their war with Philip. In <date when-custom="-199">B. C. 199</date> he compelled
      Philip to raise the siege of Thaumaci (<bibl n="Liv. 32.4">Liv. 32.4</bibl>), and took an
      active part in the battle of Cynoscephalae, <date when-custom="-197">B. C. 197</date>, in which
      Philip was defeated. (<bibl n="Plb. 18.4">Plb. 18.4</bibl>.) When the war Broke out between
      the Romans and the Aetolians, he was sent as ambassador to the Achaeans to solicit their
      assistance, <date when-custom="-192">B. C. 192</date> (<bibl n="Liv. 35.48">Liv. 35.48</bibl>); and
      on the defeat of Antiochus the Great in the following year, he went as ambassador to the
      consul M'. Acilius Glabrio to sue for peace. (<bibl n="Plb. 20.9">Plb. 20.9</bibl>.) In <date when-custom="-169">B. C. 169</date> he was denounced to the Romans by Lyciscus as one of their
