      professor of grammar at Alexandria, with Helladius, at the close of the 4th century. He was
      also priest of the Egyptian Ape. On the vigorous overthrow of idolatry in Egypt by the bishop
      Theophilus A. D. 389-391, Ammonius and Helladius fled to Constantinople and there resumed

         Signification</hi> (<foreign xml:lang="grc">περὶ ὁμοίων καὶ διαφόρων
         λέξεων</foreign>), which is appended to many lexicons, <hi rend="ital">e. g.</hi> to that
