      He was king of the Arcadians, and received sixty ships from Agamemnon, in which he led his
      Arcadians to Troy. (<bibl n="Hom. Il. 2.609">Hom. Il. 2.609</bibl>, &amp;c.; <bibl n="Hyg. Fab. 97">Hyg. Fab. 97</bibl>.) He also occurs among the suitors of Helen. (<bibl n="Hyg. Fab. 81">Hyg. Fab. 81</bibl>; <bibl n="Apollod. 3.10.8">Apollod. 3.10.8</bibl>.) On
      his return from Troy he was cast by a storm on the coast of Cyprus, where he founded the town
      of Paphus, and in it the famous temple of Aphrodite. (<bibl n="Paus. 8.5.2">Paus.
      8.5.2</bibl>, &amp;c.) He also occurs in the story of <hi rend="smallcaps">HARMONIA.</hi>
