      adopted into the Manlia gens, probably by the above-mentioned Acidinus. (<bibl n="Vell. 2.8">Vell. 2.8</bibl>.) He was praetor <date when-custom="-188">B. C. 188</date>, and had the province
      of Hispania Citerior allotted to him, where he remained till <date when-custom="-186">B. C.
       186</date>. In the latter year he defeated the Celtiberi, and had it not been for the arrival
      of his successor would have reduced the whole people to subjection. He applied for a triumph
      in consequence, but obtained only an ovation. (<bibl n="Liv. 38.35">Liv. 38.35</bibl>, <bibl n="Liv. 39.21">39.21</bibl>, <bibl n="Liv. 39.29">29</bibl>.) In <date when-custom="_183">B. C.
       183</date> he was one of the ambassadors sent into Gallia Transalpina, and was also appointed
      one of the triumvirs for founding the Latin colony of Aquileia, which was however not founded
      till <date when-custom="-181">B. C. 181</date>. (<bibl n="Liv. 39.54">Liv. 39.54</bibl>, <bibl n="Liv. 39.55">55</bibl>, <bibl n="Liv. 40.34">40.34</bibl>.) He was consul <date when-custom="-179">B. C. 179</date>, (<bibl n="Liv. 40.43">Liv. 40.43</bibl>,) with his own
      brother, Q. Fulvius Flaccus, which is the only instance of two brothers holding the consulship
      at the same time. (<hi rend="ital">Fast. Capitol.;</hi>
