If a horse when he is elated should <pb n="382"/> say, I am beautiful, one might endure it. But when you are elated, and say, I have a beautiful horse, you must know that you are elated at having a good horse.<note anchored="true">Upton proposes to read <foreign xml:lang="grc">ἐφ’ ἱπποῦ ἀγαφῷ</foreign> instead of <foreign xml:lang="grc">ἐπὶ ἵππῳ ἀγαφῷ</foreign>.
