1. A surname of Apollo, derived from a place in Troas called Thynmbra, where he had a temple in which Achilles was wounded, or from a neighboring hill of the same name. (Strab. xiii. p.598; Steph. Byz. s. v. Θύμβρα; Eurip. Rhes. 224 ; Serv. ad Acn. 3.85 ; Horn. Il. 10.430.)
